Key Installation Rules • Sag Rod Spacing: Depending on the bay spacing of your tapered frames (usually 6m to 9m), you will need either one sag rod at mid-span or two sag rods at third-points of the bay. • Ridge Connection: Sag rods must be tied across the roof ridge to an identical rod on the opposite slope, or anchored securely using a diagonal tie-rod configuration to transfer the cumulative downhill load to the rigid frame rafters. Component Breakdown • Tapered Frames: Built-up steel sections where the depth of the web increases at areas of higher bending moments (like the knee/eave joint) and decreases where the stress is lower. This optimizes steel usage and reduces cost. • Sag Rods: Tension rods fastened between purlins or girts. They prevent the purlins from sagging, twisting, or deflecting laterally under the weight of the roof/wall sheets and wind loads. • GI L-Cleat (Angle Cleat): A L-shaped bracket made of galvanized iron. It serves as the physical connection piece bolted or welded to the tapered main frame to hold the purlins in place, or used at the ends of sag rods for secure anchoring.
