This Swiss mower is built for one of the toughest mowing jobs imaginable: cutting grass on slopes of up to 100% — equivalent to a 45-degree incline. The Rapid SWISS uses specialized traction wheels and a powerful reciprocating cutter bar to work across steep alpine terrain where conventional mowers struggle. In this video, see how its unique cutting system works, how the spiked wheels maintain traction, and why this compact machine is so effective on extreme slopes. Depending on the configuration, the SWISS can be equipped with a wide range of mowing attachments. The reciprocating finger-bar cutter used in this footage works with a back-and-forth cutting motion, allowing the machine to cut dense grass cleanly while leaving the material suitable for haymaking. The cutting bar can also be paired with different widths and configurations depending on the application. The machine uses a 265 cc gasoline engine producing up to 9 hp and a continuously variable hydrostatic transmission, allowing the operator to adjust ground speed smoothly while working across uneven terrain. Rapid rates the SWISS for slopes of up to 100%, equivalent to a 45-degree incline. That combination of traction, low weight, maneuverability, and interchangeable attachments is what makes this type of machine useful for alpine agriculture, where bringing a conventional tractor onto the hillside simply isn't practical. #mowing #swissmower #swissrapid
