Scissorbills, "Scissorbills," // GemsOnVHS™

This was my last stop in the 9th ward neighborhood of New Orleans filming the various characters inhabiting the swampy old houses. I was all packed up, ready to head back to Nashville when Chris Acker and Casper told me to meet with Caspian. I almost declined, having filmed damn near everyone running day and night with my miniDV film camera. I couldn't leave without seeing what was out there though. His house was right beyond Acker's, so I walked over and filmed him in the living room. I appreciate this song - a classic sounding work ballad with contemporary subject matter that seems to be about lamenting harvesting weed out West on a farm. He paints a picture with the writing. It's not everyday we get a damn good string section either. & yes, the song and the band are called Scissorbills. When I asked about it, he told me Minor Threat has a song called Minor Threat, the Descendants have the Descendants. So there's that.
