One drip painting that never stops being poured. Layer after layer, its colours drift from one Jackson Pollock combination to the next: Autumn Rhythm, Blue Poles, Lavender Mist, Convergence, Full Fathom Five and more. Nothing here was painted by hand or drawn by an AI image model. Every stroke is generated live by a small JavaScript program (Pollock Dreams), and the music is generated by code too. ▶ Watch it live in your browser (a new painting every time you load the page): https://kefirfromperm.github.io/pollo... ▶ Click for a new single painting: https://kefirfromperm.github.io/pollo... ▶ Source code: https://github.com/kefirfromperm/poll... — How it works — Pollock's drip paintings are known to be fractal: studies of his canvases found the same patterns repeating at many scales. Pollock Dreams copies that. Strokes come in sizes that follow a power law, so there are a few big sweeping pours, more medium lines and lots of tiny drips and spatters. Each new layer takes its colours from the ones before it, so the painting slowly moves through palettes taken from real Pollock works. The music follows the same rule. Everything in it that changes (the chord progression, the melodies, the timing, the swells) is driven by 1/f "pink" noise, the fractal noise found in nature and in a lot of music. The notes come at three time scales, like the strokes: slow low tones, quicker middle ones and fast high drips in falling trails. How often each kind appears follows the same power law as the stroke sizes. Good for focus, study, relaxing, or as ambient art on a big screen. Painting & music seed: 1950 Rendered in headless Chromium at 1920×1080, 30 fps. This is a tribute to Jackson Pollock. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and no original artworks appear in the video. #generativeart #JacksonPollock #ambientmusic
