Part of Jonathon Meades' 1994 series 'Further Abroad' Belgian artist Magritte wasn't a surrealist, he was a social realist. Belgium is a country where the bizarre and the dreamlike are the standard currency of everyday life - as typified by the museums of underwear, penguins and ironing and the hazardous-sounding sport of vertical archery.
