Water Casting: A Silversmithing Tutorial

This video shows how to do water casting, a type of free form casting. The process requires a hot torch, a crucible, scrap silver, safety equipment for your protection, and a deep bucket of water. For the final piece of jewelry I produced, I also used, I used 16 (1.3 mm) and 18 gauge (1 mm) sterling round wire, 22 gauge (.66 mm) sterling sheet, and some 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) fine silver bezel strip in 26 gauge (.41 mm), cut shorter. I added a 6x4 mm Blue Topaz as an accent. As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and a liquid flux although I used a bit of medium paste solder at the end.
