At two minutes before midnight, bookbinder Sabine Orrel watches her own name appear inside a civic ledger she has never touched.
The town of Veyra has kept its eastern gate sealed since the Grey Fever of 1688. Every winter, its council reads the names of the dead and burns one blank page. But forty-three people were deliberately cut from the record—and now the ledger is collecting living names to fill the silence.
When a baker walks barefoot through the snow toward the bricked Ash Gate, Sabine follows a red thread left by her uncle into the history her own family helped erase. Before Ember Night ends, she must restore the missing dead without inventing the one name no document preserved.
The Ash Ledger of Veyra is an original fictional old-world horror story created for Old World Fables & Horror, told through cinematic English narration and original mature 2D ink-cel illustrations. It is not presented as a true account and is not adapted from an existing franchise or copyrighted universe.
Headphones recommended for the full atmosphere.
If a town erased someone from every official record, what would count as justice: a name, a witness, or the full truth about what was lost?
