Speakers will discuss state resources and programs created to address this persistent and growing issue of abandoned and neglected cemeteries. Speakers will cover the importance and methods for identifying, researching, and documenting cemeteries as important cultural resources. Case studies of the historical cemeteries of Jacksonville will be presented, highlighting the efforts that have been made to preserve and restore several of the city’s segregated and predominantly Black cemeteries.
