The Basement Tapes #1 - The Weight We Carry

I recently moved back to the house where I grew up to help care for my father during the final stage of his life. This series was born in the basement of that house. Every performance is recorded there, using the room itself as an instrument. Instead of pristine studio acoustics, I capture the natural reverb of the basement by playing the music through a Teenage Engineering OB-4 and adding the sound back into the recording. The reflections, imperfections, and decay become part of the composition, grounding each piece in a place filled with memory. Basement Tapes is my way of exploring the relationship between memory, time, loss, and the quiet beauty that can exist in decay. The setups are intentionally minimal, allowing the focus to remain on emotion rather than complexity. For this first session, the entire piece is built around just two voices: the Macbeth Dual Oscillator and the Verbos Complex Oscillator.
