This POV truck loading video takes place at one of the more unusual loading locations I've visited in Germany. The warehouse is located right next to a main road in a built-up area, making access to the loading area is a little tighter than most industrial sites.
When I first arrived, my biggest concern wasn't the loading itself — it was figuring out how I was going to turn the truck around afterwards. Thankfully one of the workers pointed me towards a route behind the warehouse where I could safely turn around before returning to the loading area.
The route included two surprisingly steep hills that quickly changed from steep to flat. As the trailer crossed over, the rear of the trailer actually touched the ground slightly, so I had to stop and raise it up before continuing. It's a good reminder that even small access roads can sometimes create unexpected challenges for truck drivers.
While arriving to the area I also spotted a deer running around nearby, which was quite surprising considering the location was surrounded by buildings and close to town.
The loading itself was straightforward but the cargo certainly wasn't light. The pallets weighed around two tonnes each and were moved into the trailer using an electric pump truck. Once loaded, everything was carefully strapped and secured ready for the journey ahead.
One of the best moments came right at the end. I spotted a couple of metal buckets in a skip and asked if I could take them. Instead of giving me the old ones, the loader disappeared for a few minutes and came back with a brand new bucket for me. I was genuinely pleased because it'll be perfect for collecting fruit and other projects at home.
Sometimes it's the little things that make a day memorable.
Throughout the video I'm doing my usual chatting about trucking life, the job, random thoughts, and whatever happens to come up along the way. Many people tell me they enjoy the honest conversations just as much as the trucking itself, so I always try to keep things real and show the good, the bad, and everything in between.
