Playing as a defender and penalty corner specialist, he is regarded as one of the world’s best drag flickers. He holds the record for the most international goals by an Indian player in modern hockey. Harmanpreet led India to a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, his second bronze in three Olympic appearances, and also captained the team to gold at the 2022 Asian Games. He has twice been named Player of the Year at the FIH Awards. About Hardik Singh Ji: Hardik Singh (born 23 September 1998) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for the national team. His father, Varinderpreet Singh Rai, is a police officer and former Indian player, while his grandfather, Preetam Singh Rai, was a hockey coach in the Indian Navy. Hardik grew up playing hockey in his village, Khusropur, under his grandfather's guidance. Inspired by his uncles, former internationals Gurmail Singh and Jugraj Singh, Hardik initially played as a defender. He began playing hockey seriously in 2012 and joined the Punjab Institute of Sports Academy in Mohali before moving to the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar.
