Incredible Lightning Time Lapse Over East Tennessee and Great Smoky Mountains #storm

August 11th 2026Time Lapse of intense thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rain and wind impacting eastern Tennessee around the Knoxville and Gatlinburg areas and moving into the Great Smoky Mountains along the North Carolina border between 941 and 1055 PM. You can see the gust front move rapidly over the area as the storms advance. I was practicing night time lapses for the Perseid Meteor Shower of August 12th, but storms broke out instead which are always interesting and these were more intense than usual summer night storms.
