I Bought the Guitar Back | She Never Lost the Dream | Modern Heavy Rock

[Verse 1] Nineteen years old in a basement band Red guitar and a borrowed amp Friday nights with the windows shaking Swore we'd never give any of it back Then rent came due, the baby came I took more hours, you know the game Sold that guitar for six hundred bucks Said, "It's just a thing" But it never was [Pre-Chorus] Years went by I did what I had to do Then yesterday I saw that red come shining through [Chorus] I bought the guitar back Turned it up until the whole room shook I bought the guitar back Found the girl I thought I lost Don't need a record deal Don't need my name in lights Just six strings in my hands To know I'm still alive I bought the guitar back! [Verse 2] Same model in a secondhand store Little scratched up, maybe forty-four I hit one chord and there I was Nineteen years old again Brought it home in an old black case My husband laughed when he saw my face "You gonna start a band?" I plugged it in— "Maybe I am." [Chorus] I bought the guitar back Turned it up until the whole room shook I bought the guitar back Found the girl I thought I lost Don't need a record deal Don't need my name in lights Just six strings in my hands To know I'm still alive I bought the guitar back! [Bridge] Some things you give up 'Cause somebody needs you more That doesn't mean you bury Who you were before The kids came running downstairs "Mom, what is that?" [Full-band stop] "TURN IT UP!" [Guitar Solo] [20-second ferocious guitar-hero solo] [Screaming bends → alternate picking → legato → tapping] [Twin-guitar harmony → main riff] [Final Chorus] I BOUGHT THE GUITAR BACK! Now the whole damn house can hear I BOUGHT THE GUITAR BACK! After twenty-something years I love the life that brought me here Wouldn't trade a single night But that girl with the six-string Is still burning here inside I BOUGHT THE GUITAR BACK! I BOUGHT THE GUITAR BACK! [Outro] [Main riff] [Three brutal band hits]
