How can you describe a risk that produced a positive result in IELTS Speaking Part 2?
Listen to a complete model answer about accepting a summer job at an outdoor activity camp in northern Spain. The speaker had never lived abroad, spoke only basic Spanish and could not be certain how many hours of work he would receive. Despite the uncertainty, the experience helped him become more independent and created unexpected career opportunities.
The model answer is delivered in a young British male voice with an Essex accent. An Irish male narrator then explains ten useful words, idioms, collocations and phrasal verbs naturally and in context.
Vocabulary covered in this lesson includes: precarious, reach out, take it or leave it, take up an opportunity, tentative, put your best foot forward, camaraderie, a stroke of luck, pan out and serendipity.
After the vocabulary explanations, you can listen to the complete answer again and notice how much easier it is to understand.
