More Fall Warblers, Tanagers, Titmice, and a Bouncy Wren - An Active Week at the Bird Pond

Fall migrants have continued to arrive slowly. I watch the Cornell Lab's live migration maps and wake up each morning expecting to find that flocks of warblers have arrived, but that has not been the case. At least not yet! I remain hopeful :-) I really can't complain, though. I've had some nice warblers stop by over the last month or so - and we should continue to see migration activity through October. This week's new arrivals were a Bay-breasted Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, and a couple Swainson's Thrushes. Birds that arrived previously and continue to stick around include Chestnut-sided Warblers, Tennessee Warblers, Blackburnian Warblers, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Hooded Warbler. I did not get all of these on camera this week because we were back to highs in the mid-90s, and I was limited to how long I could leave the cameras running in the hot sun. The temperature is finally supposed to drop into a more normal mid-70s later this week. That's going to feel downright chilly after all these hot days. Special thanks goes out to the neighborhood squirrels who shifted around the birds' poolside branches a bit. Good work!
