Edward Cowie introduces 'Stream and Variations'

Should a composer talk about a new piece before an audience hears it for a first time? I've always felt that provided the creator talks HONESTLY and as simply as possible, talking with an audience is an act of communal 'priming'...an invitation to enter a new domain as easily as possible. I hadn't realised that my introduction to Saki Kato playing my 'Stream and Variations' was being filmed, but now that I have it, I wanted to share it as widely as possible to test (if you like!) whether you agree that it's worth a composer describing the conditions that led to a birth of a new piece of music...
