Dipnet fishing for Cisco's | Stocking up for the ice season! | Tartan Rapids 2026

Annual Northwest Territories Cisco run, we couldn't have timed it better! Cisco's are the main food source for all fish species in Great Slave lake! A few weeks a year the Ciscoes run up from Great Slave Lake to go spawn and we meet them at Tartan Rapids for a chance to stock up on some of these beautiful baitfish. They are one of the only fish we are able to dip net for and it is an absolute blast! I'm always looking forward to this trip every single year. Not just because I need them for my annual Cisco bath.. but because fishing for them just makes me feel like a kid again! All stocked up.. Ice season is almost here! Lets go!!
