Our improvised performance to graphic score at Five Rise Locks Cafe, Bingley on 25th October 2026.
It was a blustery evening with a full moon and Storm Austen on the horizon but people packed into the cafe with hot cups of cocoa, tea and cake.
Our immense gratitude to those who were able to make it in spite of the many cancellations on the railway line. We hope it was as memorable to you as it was for us.
Thank you so, so much to the crew who made sure we were well taken care of for the duration of shi's residency.
Sara Robinson - Producer
Jane Earnshaw - Director
Kat Boon - Event Lead
Stu Berry - Sound Engineer
Luke Nunn - Crew
Thank you to Matt Ingham-Dempster for photography duties on the night!
Personal thanks to Jim for his encouragement, love and care throughout these challenging months.
And many thanks to the other nine artists for their inspiration and ever growing support - may the group flourish and grow!
shi Blank was one of ten artists commissioned by Bradford Culture Company to explore specific sites on the Bradford Pennine Gateway National Nature Reserve.
They have been exploring Bingley North Bog and its wildlife over the past three months. As part of their residency, shi will come together with their avantgarde ambient duo, Gilank for an improvised performance at dusk using field recordings at the bog. A Duet with Bingley Bog seeks to question the impact of human activities on our nature reserves and what this relationship could be if we stop polluting our environment.
This Bog is 10,000 years old and plays a huge role in our existence on the planet. It is right next to the A650 motorway and has only been granted official National Nature Reserve status very recently.
