Michael Lee Kilgore appears in Bexar County on 2022-CR-6781. The State drops two counts and proceeds on the lesser included: assault bodily injury, married/cohabitation — a Class A misdemeanor with a family-violence finding.
He pleads no contest. The court defers a finding of guilt and places him on two years deferred adjudication: BIPP, regular UAs, no contact with Sherry Garmin, proof of employment, no unsupervised contact with minors. Transfer to Indianapolis is denied.
Then the judge starts asking about his children.
Six kids. Multiple mothers. He is 27. He cannot give dates of birth for the 6-month-old, the 5-year-old, the 3-year-old, or the 2-year-old. He says his girlfriend in Indiana knows he assaulted another woman and still wants him — “limited men available.” The court tells him dropping money off is not parenting, and that children who never meet can grow up not knowing they are siblings.
Deferred is not a conviction — unless he violates it. Then the range comes back: up to one year in Bexar County Jail and a $4,000 fine.
Watch the full plea, the admonishments, and the sentencing lecture.
