Alone under the golden larches of the North Cascades. 30 miles solo in the Pasayten Wilderness

On a road trip from Colorado to Washington, I took three days for a solo backpacking trip into the wilderness of the North Cascades Mountains. Hiking into the Pasayten Wilderness tucked just under the Canadian border takes you into Washington's wildest corner. In late September, the larch trees up high turn glowing gold and the weather can be moody. I had some trials and tribulations on this one with a water shortage situation and forgotten gear. I even thought I heard a sasquatch outside my tent! I picked fistfulls of wild blueberries and huckleberries over 30 miles of deserted trail.
