Freedom can be inherited, but it cannot be kept on inheritance alone. “The Price” is an original song about the watch passed from one generation to the next—and the vigilance, faith, and responsibility required to carry it forward.
The song draws on the old civic maxim that eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. It also reflects the image of a speaker standing where an earlier generation stood, receiving a torch that must be guarded rather than displayed as an ornament.
No modern speech language is used. The lyric, melody, arrangement, recording, and visual presentation are original Versewell work, with the faith element framed positively through God-given dignity rather than partisan or Cold War argument.

What responsibility should every generation accept before passing liberty to the next?
