NSL Semi-Finals: Broadcast Issues, Thunder Into The Final & Meet Jeeves

This week on Here If You Need - The Netball Pod, Emily Wilson and Nia Jones react to a huge NSL semi-final weekend. We discuss the NSL apology after Liv Tchine was misidentified in a 100-cap post, why the mistake was so hurtful, and why the response has to go beyond a social media apology. Then we get into the semi-finals. Loughborough Lightning beat Nottingham Forest 77-57, but the scoreline does not tell the whole story. We talk about Forest’s nerves, Loughborough’s knockout experience, Jo Trip’s performance, the shooting stats and whether Forest’s brilliant season had already emotionally peaked when they made top four. Manchester Thunder beat London Pulse to reach the Grand Final, with Thunder looking like they are peaking at exactly the right time. We discuss Nicola Smith’s injury, Karis Flynn joining the squad, Ellie McCormick’s performance, Taylor McKevitt’s impact, Alicia Scholes returning for Pulse, Liv Tchine’s response after a difficult week and Sam Bird’s emotional post-match interview. We’re also joined by Manchester Thunder team manager Phil Thomas, known as Jeeves, to talk about what a team manager actually does behind the scenes. From washing dresses and sorting sweets to coach logistics, match-day pressure, arena games, NSL 2.0, men’s netball, mixed netball and why players keep coming back to Thunder. Plus, Nia explains post-match “top ups”, Jade Clarke appears in our Fantasy Netball league, and we make our prelim final predictions. Subscribe for honest, analytical and slightly chaotic netball chat every week.
