Fred & Dave Play Sports | Sports Vocabulary & Listening | A1 English Story for Beginners

Fred and Dave want to play sports! ⚾🎾🏀 But finding the right sport may be harder than they expected... The two friends try different sports, including baseball, tennis, and basketball. Some go better than others! In the end, Fred and Dave discover that sometimes the best choice is simply finding something you both enjoy. Fred & Dave is a series of short, funny stories created especially for beginner English learners. I’ve always believed that stories are one of the best ways to learn a language. When students care about the characters and want to know what happens next, new vocabulary and grammar become part of a meaningful situation instead of just a list of words or rules. That’s the idea behind Fred & Dave. Each story introduces useful everyday English in a simple, visual context, and the accompanying activities build on the story with listening, reading, vocabulary, speaking, writing, and grammar practice. In Fred & Dave Play Sports, students practice common sports vocabulary through a simple, funny story. The accompanying printable and digital activities give students extra practice with sports vocabulary, listening, reading, speaking, writing, video comprehension, and will / won’t in context. The resources were designed for beginner ESL/EFL and A1 learners, but the clear language, visual support, and step-by-step activities may also be useful for differentiation or for students who benefit from extra language and reading support. English in this story includes: baseball • tennis • basketball • bowling • sports vocabulary 🎯 Great for: Beginner ESL / EFL • A1 English • Young Learners • Elementary English • Sports Vocabulary • Listening Comprehension • Differentiated Learning Which sport will Fred and Dave finally choose?
