SF Financial District, the slowest to recover. San Francisco ranks last among 63 cities in downtown recovery. San Francisco ranked dead last in recovering from the COVID pandemic. San Francisco, one of the country's most politically far-left cities, is showing the slowest post-pandemic recovery. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff threatens to move Dreamforce conference out of San Francisco over homelessness, drug use
These are just some of daily news I encounter when browsing the internet or when watching nightly news. As much as I’m rooting for my beloved city, these headlines are not baseless. I am not a financial expert but I’m an enthusiastic local who’s rooting for the city that saved my life. Compared to the last time I walked this area 5 months ago, there’s a lot more people in offices, bars & restaurants. It’s definitely livelier than the last time. It just made me happy to see that most restaurants were full and lively. I just read this morning August 31, 2023 Thursday that SF Mayor London Breed announced last Monday that office-use in FiDi area has risen by more than 40% since last July. That’s good news! Plus city hall’s ‘Vacant to Vibrant’ program that seeks to fill vacant store fronts by helping small pop-up businesses to fill the vacancy started rolling a few months ago. The small businesses especially the restaurants have been doing well. September looks even brighter for San Francisco as big events are happening next month such as Dreamforce 2023 and Folsom Street Fair 2023. I’ll do my best to share videos of these events.
Slowly but surely, SF FiDi will rise up just like what it did before.
