Egypt: bringing Dutch greenhouse horticulture

The Netherlands presented its greenhouse horticulture during Sahara Expo on 22-24 September 2026 in Cairo. Nine companies joined the pavilion and represented the full breadth of Dutch greenhouse horticulture – cultivation technology, climate control, greenhouse construction, biological crop protection and knowledge development and -sharing. The day before we met with a group of Egyptian growers and institutes to discuss what technology is best suited to meet Egypt’s challenges and opportunities. Greenhouse horticulture requires collaboration: many different fields of expertise need to come together to make is happen. Agriculture in Egypt is growing fast. Let’s work together to use this momentum to take leaps in climate resilience and water use efficiency through knowledge-intense agriculture.
