Palo Verde Nuclear Siren | FS “ThunderMod” Modulator 3012 Test | Palo Verde, AZ | 11/30/22

This siren is inside the nuclear power plant itself! I did a distance recording from about 0.5mi away outside the gates of the plant off of Wintersburg Rd. One angle is extremely zoomed in on the siren, the other is of the plant itself. The entire system is ATI except for the 7 MOD3012s inside the plant. The Mods have a custom dual tone low pitch which was created to match the ATIs (and it’s likely horrible for the drivers). It is very similar to both a Level 4 Thunderbolt 1000T as well as a Carter Air Raid Siren. At least 3 (if not all 7) closely placed Mods within the plant can be heard as well as at least 4 ATIs (Horseshoe Trail, Baseline Rd, Elliot Rd, & 380th Ave) which can be heard abruptly starting in the distance before the Mods wind up. Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station tests their system of ATI HPSS-32s and FS Modulator 3012s in coordination with Maricopa County EMA once a year on a pre-scheduled date at some point in either November or December (pending the year) at both Noon & 12:30PM. This unit is located inside the plant at W Palo Verde 5 Entrance & Southern Ave, it replaced a SiraTone EOWS 1212 in the Early-Mid 2000s.
