Hi Everyone! 💖 Long time no see! I finally FINALLY finished this edit and it’s not exactly how I imagined but…at least it’s done. I love the song tho - it brings back a lot of memories. In some ways it’s such a simple song, and kinda repetitive lol, but at the same time it’s so inspiring and echoes a longing of hope and the capability to rise up and do amazing things. Also: Happy 4th of July! (To my fellow Americans…and if you’re not from America, I hope you have a happy day too) I don’t always agree with everything my country does, but I do like the ideals it’s supposed to stand for - life, liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness. That no matter where you come from or who you are, you are a valued human being created by God, and have the chance to make a life for yourself, and make the world a better place. Annnnd as a wise Zootopia movie once said, “Life’s a little more complicated than a slogan on a bumper sticker. Real life is messy. We all have limitations. We all make mistakes. Which means, hey! Glass half-full we all have a lot in common. And the more we try to understand one another, the more exceptional each of us will be. But we have to try. So no matter who you are, I implore you. Try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you. It starts with me. It starts with all of us.” (AAAAhhhh doesn’t that just give you goosebumps? I love that movie) Okay but back to my thoughts. Regardless of how we feel about our individual countries, and as frustrating and concerning as world events can be, we have to remember that we the people, are the ones who make up those countries. And we still have the power to make a difference in our own little corner of the world. One of the things I love most about the history of my country, (and probably yours too for that matter) is how some of the most amazing stories and heroic acts were started and accomplished by the most ordinary people. Normal girls and boys who grew up and saw a need. Someone they could help. A place where they could make a change. A time they could step up and do what no one else thought was possible. And that’s what real heroes are. Everyday people do everyday things - rushing through life with their heads down and eyes closed, too discouraged or busy or afraid to acknowledge the problems looming overhead. But I have a feeling we are a different kind. There’s nothing wrong with being “ordinary” in fact I think there’s beauty in it. (Afterall, even Marinette is just a “normal” girl lol) It’s good to live a simple and quiet life, enjoying each day as it comes and working hard with what you have. But we have a secret side - hiding in plain sight. We all have the power to make a difference, to make a change, to be the light in someone else’s life. And that’s all we’re looking for, isn’t it? Love and a little light. Did you know Jesus is both those things? Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) No matter how dark your life gets, if you put your trust in Jesus, you will always have someone to count on and cling to, and a future that is secure. He offers a relationship with God, filled with forgiveness, purpose, and hope. And of course, love. “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." (1 John 4:9) God shows his love for us through Jesus - the life Jesus lived, the sacrifice he paid by dying on the cross for our sins, and after coming back to life, the personal friendship and relationship he wants to share with us in our everyday lives, from now, till eternity. All we have to do is be willing to accept the love and light he offers us. We could keep spinning in circles, worried about the world, keeping our heads down and eyes closed because we don’t want to understand, or we can see that what we’re looking for has been given to us all along - all we have to do is take it by putting our faith in him. One of the most heroic acts, is that of self- sacrifice. To be a Hero, is to sacrifice. Jesus did that when he took the punishment for our sins, and died in our place. Not because he wanted to make himself look good, and it wasn’t an accident. He willingly gave up his life, because he loves us, and wants us to have a restored relationship with God and a future with him in heaven. Sacrifice is such an amazing concept. Logically it doesn’t make sense - we should all prioritize our own safety first, right? And yet, there are countless stories of people willingly giving up their lives for the people they care about - and sometimes even strangers. And that is truly heroic. (Well this is a shorter one, but I still ran out of room 😅 Check pinned comment for the ending 😉💕)
