Heitzeg: American Nomad, for Trumpet and Orchestra

Before the 2019-20 season begins, here's a gem from last season we're proud to share with you. Enjoy this free stream of the American Nomad Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra by Steve Heitzeg, featuring Charles Lazarus and the Minnesota Orchestra, recorded at Orchestra Hall in January 2019. “A series of soundscapes that depict various American landscapes” is the composer’s description of this trumpet concerto, American Nomad, inspired not only by scenery, but by our country’s medley of cultures. It requires a soloist like Charles Lazarus—equally adept at performing classical music and improvising at jazz.
