You stand at the end of an old jetty just after dawn.
Beyond its weathered posts, the water disappears into light. Heavy winter clouds hold the morning in shadow, but then the sun breaks through and sets the sky alight, casting a warm peach glow across the water.
An instant later, fine mist sweeps across the inlet, falling against your skin as gently as snowflakes, softening the distant shore until sky and water merge.
For a moment, the landscape seems suspended between two kinds of weather: sunlight opens the view while mist quietly conceals it.
Stay here a while. Allow the open water, light and sounds of the inlet to accompany sleep, focused work, reading or quiet rest.
This three-hour ambience combines a short loop of footage captured during the morning with an original field recording made on location. No music, narration or artificial environmental sounds have been added.
Location: Sydenham Inlet, Far East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
