“SO HE’S YOUR FAMILY MEMBER?” SIBANYONI GRILLED OVER SAPS OFFICER

Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni faced detailed questioning at the Madlanga Commission over his relationship with serving SAPS officer Warrant Officer Mahlangu, also referred to as “Bhokgolo”, and access codes to Centurion Golf Estate. Sibanyoni initially described WO Mahlangu as his “homeboy” before explaining that his younger brother has a child with a member of the Bhokgolo family. When the Commission asked, “So he’s your family member? That’s how you describe him?”, Sibanyoni replied, “Yes.” Sibanyoni denied having a professional or business relationship with the officer and stressed that WO Mahlangu and Calvin Mahlangu are two different people. He also addressed access codes issued to people attending meetings at his office inside the estate, arguing that an access code did not necessarily mean he personally met or knew the person who eventually used it.
