Most Woodturners Would Burn This Log… I Turned It Instead

It’s great to be back at the lathe! In this video, I take a gnarly, punky piece of sycamore that looked closer to firewood and turn it into an organic, natural-edge hollow form. There’s no epoxy resin or artificial stabilisers used here, just sharp tools, patience, and letting the natural grain, spalling, and bark inclusions speak for themselves. The final piece is finished simply with Danish Oil to highlight the chatoyancy and raw character hidden beneath the surface.
