How to replace the input shaft on a Mopar 833 4-speed. Mopar 833 4-speed pilot shaft repair.

Broken stuff is always cheaper at the swap meet. If you can fix it, you can save countless dollars. I bought this one with a broken bearing retainer and the pilot end broken off the input shaft. The funny thing is that the seller supplied the new input shaft and bearing retainer in the sale. Unfortunately, the retainer turned out to be the wrong one, but the input shaft was right. Since a new retainer runs under one hundred bucks and in input shaft is nearly three hundred, I'm good. I buy broken stuff all of the time, fix it, and either use it or sell it for a profit. At an average cost of 900 big ones, this 833 was well under budget. Having to remove the shaft turned out to be a blessing since the inner bearings were shot. I would guess that she would have howled like coyote over fresh kill if ran the way she was. She should run like new now. Most early 4-speeds are very similar to this one so you Chevy guys can benefit from this video as well. I am no expert on transmissions so if I can do it, you can too.
