We are an injection mold manufacturer in China, and in this case study we show how a 90° plastic elbow mold is designed and how its core-pulling mechanism works. Bent pipe fittings, especially plastic elbows, may look simple. In fact, their corresponding injection mold structure is often very complicated. Common plastic elbows are 90 degrees and 180 degrees. The mold structure often uses core-pulling structures such as arc core and chain core. The 90° elbow introduced in this video does not use the structure described above. Instead, it uses straight core pulling, because the arc segment is relatively short. Of course, this is just one of the mold design solutions. It may not be the best mold design solution. But this is also the fun of mold making. This mold has two cavities. Two 90° elbows can be produced at a time. This plastic elbow mold has two horseshoe-shaped cores. The driving device of the core-pulling mechanism includes oil cylinders on both sides and a guide rail in the shape of a boomerang. In the video, there are detailed analyses of various mechanisms.
