Welcome back, Prophetic Appointments friends, to Class 3 on the Feast of Tabernacles. Last time we watched what Jesus was doing in the temple. Today we stay in that temple and open the pattern behind the last day of the feast, the eighth great day, and the shepherd who is the only Door. The millennial day is the Sabbath of the earth, the day of the Lord. Doctrine and Covenants 77:12 ties the trumpets of Revelation 8 and 9 to the preparing and finishing of that day, the same pattern as the seventh day of creation, when man was formed and the garden planted. Daniel’s numbers point to the Mount of Olives and the rededication of the temple. The feast itself carries the rest of the story: the wedding supper of the sheep, Hoshana Rabbah and the little season, the great white throne, and Shemini Atzeret, the eighth day of assembly, the new heaven and the new earth. Not every “great day” in scripture is the same day. Some uses are an adjective for the dawning millennial day. Others are the last great day at the end of the earth. We practice the rhetorical linking from the Isaiah classes on D&C 34, 49, 58, and 19, Moses 7, Jude 1:6, Revelation 16 and 20, 2 Nephi 33, Mormon, and D&C 38, including the chains of darkness reserved until the judgment of the great day, which shall come at the end of the earth. Then the eighth-day types: priesthood consecration in Leviticus 8–9, circumcision and the naming of the son, the leper pronounced clean on the eighth day, and the earth herself washed for the millennium and raised celestial when death and hell are emptied. Glory is manifested on the eighth day. The seven days are the preparation. From the illumination of the feast to Revelation 21, from the woman taken in adultery and the man born blind to the third I AM: I am the door of the sheep. The porters were casting out the flock. Jesus answers both questions of the rich man in the Good Samaritan, eternal life and who is my neighbor, with Adam among thieves, the law that cannot save, and the Samaritan who binds the wounds with oil and wine, pays the temple tax, and comes again. The keeper of the gate employs no servant there (2 Nephi 9). Sheep need full-time supervision. They follow a voice, fear running water, and cannot get up when they are on their backs. Only the Shepherd can. The seven visitors of Sukkot are all shepherds. Micah 5:5–8 raises seven shepherds and eight principal men against the Assyrian, and the remnant of Jacob among the Gentiles is the roar of Zion taking the land back. Seventy bulls, decreasing each day, for the seventy nations. One bull on the eighth day, Israel alone with the King. The oxen, the baptismal font, and the 144,000 as proxy saviors on Mount Zion: willing, not self-qualified. Joseph in Egypt is the type of the seed of Joseph in the New Jerusalem. When the guests have gone, the King says to Israel, let us now have a small meal together, just you and I. Next class: the seven-day marriage supper, and King Benjamin at the Feast of Tabernacles. Class 4 is the wedding imagery and King Benjamin. #FeastOfTabernacles #Sukkot #SheminiAtzeret #EighthGreatDay #DayOfTheLord #IAMTheDoor #GoodShepherd #GoodSamaritan #144000 #SeventyBulls #HoshanaRabbah #ComeFollowMe #BookOfMormon #DoctrineAndCovenants #PropheticAppointments #LatterDayMedia
