For the past three years, Montse Alvarado has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of EWTN News, helping shape the network’s global news coverage across television, print, and digital platforms. She first joined EWTN as host of EWTN News In Depth, before moving into a senior leadership role. Now, Pope Leo XIV has personally selected her to lead one of the Vatican’s most influential departments: the Dicastery for Communication. The historic appointment makes Alvarado the youngest person ever named to lead a Vatican dicastery and the first laywoman to hold such a position.
