ECoR has inducted 18 new dogs, including 15 specialised narcotics-detection dogs, taking its canine strength to 33. Twenty dogs are specifically assigned to narcotics detection and will assist in checking trains, platforms, luggage and parcel areas. Specialised training for the new dogs will begin on October 25, 2026, and they are expected to become fully operational by March 2027. During January-August 2026, Operation NARCOS detected 75 cases, with 1,079.642 kg of ganja and 60 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup seized, valued at around ₹3.60 crore.
