On 17 April 2018, a fan blade broke in the left engine of Southwest Airlines Flight 1380 as it climbed over Pennsylvania on its way from New York LaGuardia to Dallas Love Field. Engine debris struck a cabin window and the cabin depressurised. The crew made an emergency descent and landed safely at Philadelphia about 17 minutes later. These are real excerpts of the FAA's certified air traffic control recordings from New York Center and Philadelphia, with subtitles. In memory of Jennifer Riordan, the passenger who lost her life.
