SMS 8-bit Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (bad ending) | Aspect / Sega | Sega Master System | 1992

The emotionally traumatic ending. I had wanted to get all emeralds, since I never have before. But then I missed the one in Underground Zone and couldn't be bothered. Generally, I think Aspect did a worse job with Sonic than did Ancient for the first game on 8-bit systems. I'd originally thought it was mainly about not accommodating screen crunch on the Game Gear (whose boss music is actually better than the one they used on the Master System). But really, it's just not that great a game overall.
