Acceptable Proof of Funds: Maximizing your canada study visa

Proof of funds is one of the biggest reasons study permits get refused, especially for applicants from Nigeria. In this video I walk you through what IRCC looks for in your financial documents, the mistakes I see again and again, and how to plan your funds months before you apply. What you'll learn: ✅ What IRCC expects you to show for the first year, and why I still advise planning for the whole program ✅ The money mistakes behind many refusals: unexplained origin of funds, sudden lump sums, unclear scans and sponsors who are not close family ✅ How to prove where the money came from with pay slips, pension records, sale receipts, deeds of gift and proof of relationship ✅ Why your available balance matters more than account turnover ✅ What loans, business accounts, property and investments can and cannot do for you, plus a real approval story 📌 Update (October 2026): For study permit applications made on or after 1 September 2026, a single applicant outside Quebec must show CAN$23,448 for the first year of living costs, on top of tuition and travel. The CAN$20,635 figure used in this video is out of date. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-... 📌 Update (October 2026): Combining two programs for a longer PGWP is still possible when each program is PGWP eligible and at least 8 months long.
