Mans Search for Meaning

“He who has a Why to live for can bear almost any How.” Friedrich Nietzsche A profile of Viktor Frankl who believed that although we may not realise it, our need for a meaningful life, and pursuing it, is what makes us ultimately happy. He was considered one of the most influential thinkers in America and has inspired many books such as 'The Purpose Driven Life'. This programme has influenced me more than any other. However, since I produced it I now think I fell under Frankl's spell. There is an implicit judgement in his theory of those who do not find meaning in impossible circumstances. There is also evidence that although he implied he spent a long time at Auschwitz he was only there for a matter of days. All of that said his theory still remains the touchstone on which I try to live my life. The book came from his experiences as a jew but it has a universal message for people wherever they are and whatever they are undergoing.
