THE DARK SECRET FRANCO HARRIS HID FROM PITTSBURGH FOR DECADES!

Franco Harris won 4 Super Bowls. He gave Pittsburgh the Immaculate Reception. For 50 years the city called him a legend. Three days before he died the Steelers took back the honor they had promised him. He had publicly disagreed with the franchise about how they were treating dynasty-era players. So they called him — at 72 years old, three days before Christmas — and told him the number retirement ceremony was cancelled. The honor was rescinded. He was out. He died on December 20, 2022. Three days later. The Steelers restored the honor after his death. Retired his number at the ceremony he had been excluded from. Stood at the podium and talked about what he meant to the franchise. He wasn't there to hear it. For decades Franco Harris carried things Pittsburgh never knew about. The financial struggles behind the legend. The complicated relationship with the franchise the mythology never showed. And the ending nobody saw coming. He deserved better. From the franchise. From the sport. From all of it. #FrancoHarris #NFLLegends
