The Tiemco TMC vise is a solid vise with nearly endless adaptability. It is on the pricier end of the scale, but if you are dedicated to tying flies, this is a vise to take a close look at. When I do any vise review, I will tie flies on the vise for a month to a month and a half before conducting a review. This allows me to explore the features of the vise, but, more importantly, it allows me to tie a variety of patterns using many different hook sizes. My hope is that the time invested enhances each review. The TMC is a true rotary vise. You can make needed adjustments to make your hook shank align with the shaft of the vise head. In the true rotary position, as you rotate the vice, the hook shank stays in one place. It doesn't jump up and down. If you want solid consistency when you tie, this feature is more than helpful. Your material will go down better when the hook in the vise isn't jumping up and down as you rotate. In this review, I cover the many adjustments available on this vise, how to open and close the vice jaws to place your hook, and how to adjust the tension of the rotation of the vice head. Would I recommend this vise? Absolutely. It has been a pleasure to tie on. However, as noted, it is on the pricey side. I've found it online between $900 and $1,100. That being the case, I would only recommend it to those really dedicated to tying flies. If you are just beginning, I wouldn't invest in a vise like this until you know that tying flies is something you want to dedicate a lot of time to. I hope this review is helpful.
