THE PROPERTY
Cutler is an unincorporated community in Fairfield Township, Washington County, Ohio, ZIP 45724, sitting roughly halfway between Athens and Marietta on State Route 555, the road riders call the Triple Nickel. Call it about twenty-two miles to Athens and about twenty-five minutes to Parkersburg, West Virginia.
The seller describes the whole property as tillable and crop ground, woods and timber, pasture and hay ground, recreational and hunting, and building site. Road frontage is gravel. Some parcels have city water and some do not; some front pavement and others front gravel, and which is which is a question to ask before you choose a tract. Mineral rights are reserved by the seller.
HUNTING IN WASHINGTON COUNTY
Washington County checked 410 wild turkeys in spring 2024, the fifth-highest total of Ohio's eighty-eight counties.
The county sits inside Ohio's Disease Surveillance Area, which opens archery deer season early. Archery runs September 12, 2026 through February 7, 2027 here, two weeks ahead of most of the state. Fall turkey runs October 1 through 25, shotgun only, and Washington County is open to it. Spring turkey in the south zone runs April 25 through May 31, with youth season April 18 and 19.
Under Ohio Revised Code 1533.10, a resident landowner may hunt his own Ohio ground without a hunting license, as may his parents, his children of any age, and his grandchildren under eighteen. Deer and turkey permits are still required.
