HCC Technical session | Beyond the numbers: from GHG footprint to action

Calculating your organisation’s greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint marks a pivotal starting point for your sustainability journey. However, the real value lies in using those results to drive meaningful, strategic reductions. This session bridges the gap between measurement and action, exploring how to translate carbon accounting outputs into practical decarbonisation strategies across operations in humanitarian organisations. We examined how to compare footprints across different reporting years to monitor progress, as well as guidance for baseline recalculations when operational scopes, data availability, or calculation methods change. What to expect: Practical approaches to leverage footprint results to identify emission hotspots and prioritise actionable reduction solutions across logistics, facilities, and supply chains. Best practices for conducting robust year-on-year footprint comparisons and identifying emission reduction trends. Guidance on recalculating baselines without disrupting historical trend lines. 📩 Want to learn more about the HCC?
