FG Moves to Close Veterinary Service Gap in Rural Communities Across Nigeria

The Federal Government is moving to address the shortage of veterinary professionals in Nigeria’s rural communities, where limited access to animal health services continues to affect livestock farmers. National Project Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES, Dr. Sanusi Abubakar, disclosed this in Ilorin during the pilot implementation of the Private Veterinary Service Programme saying the initiative by L-PRES, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria will deploy 780 private veterinarians and veterinary para-professionals to over 1,000 livestock clusters across 20 states.
