Opposition in disarray after 22A: Nalinda

The Opposition has been thrown into disarray following the passage of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today. Speaking to reporters, Jayatissa said the Opposition had lost much of its previous strength, while a serious crisis had also emerged within the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). “Although they voted together in Parliament on the 22A, the divisions within the Opposition are acute,” he said. He said the Opposition had also faced further turmoil following an unsuccessful attempt to stage a protest without a clear political slogan.
