Are you nervous when someone asks you to talk about yourself in English? 🗣️ Do you know how to introduce yourself, talk about your hobbies, or explain what you do? Welcome to Day 8 of our 30-Day Slow English series with Mr. English 101! 🎉 In this lesson, Mike and Rachel will help you learn how to talk about yourself in simple, natural English. You’ll practise introducing yourself, talking about where you’re from, describing your work or studies, sharing your hobbies, and explaining your personality. Whether you're meeting someone new, making friends, starting a new job, or speaking English in everyday situations, this lesson will help you feel more confident. In this lesson, you’ll learn: How to introduce yourself in English How to talk about your name, age, and where you live How to describe your job or studies How to talk about your family and hobbies How to describe your personality using simple adjectives How to talk about the languages you speak How to ask questions and keep a conversation going How to respond naturally with phrases like “How about you?” and “That sounds interesting” How to ask someone to repeat or explain something How to build your own short introduction in English 🗣️ Useful English Phrases Here are some useful sentences to practise from today's lesson: “Hi, I'm Mike. Nice to meet you.” “I'm from India, and I live in Pune.” “I work as a teacher.” “In my free time, I like reading.” “I enjoy listening to music.” “I'm quite shy at first, but I'm friendly.” “I'm learning English.” “How about you?” “That sounds interesting.” “Sorry, could you say that again?” Practise these phrases aloud and change the examples to match your own life. Remember, you don't need difficult words or perfect grammar to introduce yourself. Simple English is good English! 🎯 YOUR DAY 8 CHALLENGE It's your turn! Pause the video and take one minute to introduce yourself in English. Try to include these four things: 1. Your name and where you're from 2. Your job or what you're studying 3. Your hobbies and interests 4. One or two words that describe your personality For example: “Hi, I'm Alex. I'm from India, and I live in Pune. I'm a student. In my free time, I like watching movies and listening to music. I'm friendly, and I'm always learning new things.” Don't worry about mistakes. Speak slowly, practise your sentences, and try again. Every time you speak, you improve! 💬 YOUR TURN! What is one hobby you love? Write your answer in the comments in English. For example: “I love playing guitar” or “I enjoy reading books.” If this lesson helped you, please hit like and subscribe to Mr. English 101 for more beginner-friendly English conversations and speaking practice.
