This documentary film Lion and the Lion heart is the story of a brave hearted tribe called Maldharis, dwelling in the middle of Gir Forest of Gujarat, the only habitat of Asiatic Lions. And also captured in the film, is some rare and exclusive footage of a pack of Lion, up close and personal, adding to the spectators delight. Maldharis, what makes them so special? or rightfully called lion heart? Primarily surviving on livestock and agriculture, this unique tribe maldhari, only reduced to a few hundreds now are the only humans sharing the Gir jungle with the fierce and dangerous lions. Not compulsion, nor ignorance, these tribals well aware of the modern world continue to live in the forest by sheer choice. Well! What have they got to fear, for they believe lions are a part of their integral family and not threatening cannibals to be afraid of. Surprisingly, repeated efforts by the govt. for their resettlement outside the forest, has been in vein, for these lionhearted yet humble and hospitable people pride on their own lifestyle and social habits similar to that of any rural culture. What bonds them so well with the forest? What makes them treat the lions like pets? This film explores the mindset of these awe-inspiring tribals, who dare to dwell, thrive, find happiness in a world we wouldnt dare to live in under normal circumstances.
