Two tiny birds are at the centre of a major conservation effort on King Island. With only around 90 to 130 King Island Scrubtits and King Island Thornbills believed to remain, Cradle Coast NRM is working with farmers, Landcare, Council and the wider community to protect their habitat and reduce the threat posed by feral cats. We spoke with Sean Willmore from the Cradle Coast NRM and project officer Nicky Loane about the newly declared cat management areas and whether these critically endangered birds can be saved from extinction.
