A color study for my watercolor poppy painting. I tested different pinks, greens, and chromatic neutrals to see how they behaved on paper before choosing the palette for the painting. Also, they do look different dried so it helps me find the right colors without experimenting on expensive paper and a tedious drawing. Pinks: quinicridone rose + lots of water and either a bit of vermillion or cobalt to make it warmer or cooler respectively. Greens: sap green plus ultramarine, burnt Sienna, quinicridone gold, or yellow ochre to make it cooler or warmer as well. Also with lots of water except for the deeper green. Chromatic neutrals are just mixing up a pink and a green. #watercolorcolorstudy #pinksandgreens #chromaticneutrals #watercolorartist #creativeprocess
